Saturday football
LEEDS UNITED vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1230)
A real test for BFS’s new charges. The Barcodes still have third place to play for and that’s as much of an incentive as they need. Away win.

ASTON VILLA vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (1500)
Not much to get excited about at Villa Park today. Home win.

CHELSEA vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST (1500)
Chelsea returned to winning ways at Bournemouth last week. Can they now turn that into consecutive victories? Forest haven’t been too hot away from home. Home win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs BOURNEMOUTH (1500)
End of season, lower mid-table obligation. Home win.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1500)
Wolves can relax, they’re safe. Man U are fighting with Newcastle and Liverpool for third. Home win.

SOUTHAMPTON vs FULHAM (1500)
For weeks, the Saints have been like a man on the edge of a cliff, arms outstretched and trying desperately to keep his balance as he’s battered by gale-force winds. There’s been a sense of inevitability about his fate. Even if they beat Fulham, depending on other results that man may be put out of his misery today. Relegation is painful, but at least you win more than you lose in the Championship. Away win.

*SUNDAY*

BRENTFORD vs WEST HAM UNITED (1400)
Brentford are assured of a top-10 finish, although the final place is still up for grabs. They’re half way to the beach. A win for us will take us all the way to the white sands and swaying palms of the Costa del Safety, but our record against Brentford doesn’t exactly inspire optimism. Still, a point wouldn’t be so bad. Draw.

EVERTON vs MANCHESTER CITY (1400)
This season hasn’t exactly gone as Toffees’ fans would have hoped. They’re still in deep trouble and this game will do nothing to improve things. It’s going down to the wire at the bottom. Away win

ARSENAL vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1630)
Have Arsenal given up on the title? They’re still in the hunt, but depend on the likes of Everton to take points from City. Brighton have become tough opponents and they won’t give their hosts easy points. Home win.

*MONDAY*

LEICESTER CITY vs LIVERPOOL (2000)
The Foxes are deep in the mire and with Liverpool still having something meaningful to play for Leicester’s prospects this evening are less than encouraging. Look down, look down. Away win.

*THE CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFFS*
Now we’re into the knock-outs for the right to play in the world’s richest game of football. And then for the right to spend a year or more suffering and clawing on to the Premier League’s boot laces in an attempt to avoid playing the other three sides again the following year. Who’d be a footballer?

SATURDAY
SUNDERLAND vs LUTON TOWN (1730)
Away win.

SUNDAY
COVENTRY CITY vs MIDDLESBROUGH (1200)
Draw.

TUESDAY
LUTON TOWN vs SUNDERLAND (2000)
Home win.

WEDNESDAY
MIDDLESBROUGH vs COVENTRY CITY (2000)
Home win.

Nailed on.

Re: Saturday football
Difficult to see us getting points tomorrow, but would obviously love that. A mid table finish would look nice along side a European cup...

I think Southampton will win, they will go down, but will start playing better with more freedom and win a few of their last games. They're quite a good team.

Thanks Coffee

Thanks coffee, don't think we'll get anything tomorrow with one eye on Thursdays game.

Re: Saturday football
Can we be mathematically safe before we play tomorrow?

Guess if Leeds lose that’s two teams who can’t catch us, but Leicester won’t lose until Monday night so technically not, and Forest and Everton will still have enough points in theory to overhaul us. Shame. I don’t want that to be a stupid excuse for Moyes to ‘go for it’ tomorrow. If Leicester were playing today it would be a lot more straightforward.

I would say odds on Leeds getting raped today.

I think the result will depend on whether Moyes rests players ahead of the second leg on Thursday, so I went for the middle of the road result.

Looking like we’ll be needing a result at Brentford tomorrow.

Re: Saturday football
Leeds might as well go for it instead of sitting back and playing for a draw.

Re: Saturday football
Bad news this. Might impact what Moyes does tomorrow. He’s got to keep his bottle, prioritise Thursday and make sure we don’t lose to Leeds when we host them.

Rest tomorrow. The players can go Thursday Sunday after that, and then it’s a week until playing a likely already relegated Leicester, who’s players will be already packing their flip flops for Dubai and ringing their agents on speed dial.

Newcastle playing like they are on the beach already, terrible

Re: Saturday football
Even with their poor away form Forest could get something at Chelsea.

Re: Saturday football
You have to say Allardyce has got his players right up for this. Getting forward well and playing some good stuff so far. Not cowering round their own 18 years box despite the opposition.

I think ultimately Newcastle will probably have too much for them but they are giving it a go at the moment.
